MEET THE EDITOR

Reed Taylor

Reed Taylor assumed the editorship of our Torch magazine last summer with the retirement of Patrick Deans after 17 years of outstanding service.  Reed is a retired high school English teacher with a B.A. from Yale in American Studies and an M.A. and Ph.D. in the same field from Emory.  He joined the Buffalo Torch Club in 1981,  serving as president from 1989-90 and treasurer since 2000.  He chaired the committee for the 1991 Torch Convention in Buffalo, and served on the IATC Board as Region 1 Director and IATC President in the mid-1990s.  He is the author of four articles in Torch, "Getting Back to Basics in Education" (1984), "Dimensions of Revenge in The Scarlet Letter and Moby-Dick" (1993), "High-Flying Fares:  The Dilemma of Deregulation" (1999), and “Anti-Semitism: A Problem for Christians” (2001).  Reed taught a special course in expository writing for more than a decade, and enjoyed serving on the Editorial Advisory Committee of Torch prior to serving as Editor.  He and his wife Glynda, currently president of the Buffalo Torch Club, have enjoyed attending virtually all Torch Conventions since Akron in 1987.
