Thomas Carroll
Known for his dry wit, good sense and command of detail, Thomas Carroll was an executive and public relations specialist who co-founded the Lincoln Torch club (NE) in 1959. He died in 2000 at the age of 92 after devoting much of his life to Torch. He was the Lincoln club’s second president and, in 1972, the first delegate to the International Association of Torch clubs, where he was elected to the IATC Board of Directors. From 1976 to 1980, Carroll was IATC Secretary-Treasurer. He served 27 years as secretary-treasurer of the Lincoln club, until 1988. He wrote an official Torch history, The Story of Torch, The First Fifty Years of the International Association of Torch Clubs.
The North Dakota native earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri and by the 1940s was executive director of the Community Chest and Council in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where he first joined a Torch club. He and his family moved to Lincoln in the mid-1950s, where he worked in public relations for the Safety Council of Nebraska in Lincoln. He also belonged to the Unitarian Church, Sigma Nu, Lincoln Arts Council and Lincoln Community Playhouse.

Dr. Francis Moul
Francis Moul, PhD, of Lincoln, Nebraska, died in March 2023. He had been active

Virginia and Nebraska and in the establishment of the Torch Foundation honors, recognition and memorial programs. He was a former newspaper publisher, college professor, businessman and author. He was survived by his wife, Maxine Moul, a former trustee of the Torch Foundation.
