Grants
The Torch Foundation supports the Torch life-long learning mission through grants awarded to the International Association of Torch Clubs, Inc. (IATC) itself and its local member clubs and regions. Recent grants have been for member recruitment and retention projects at existing clubs, new club development, subsidizing publication of Torch Magazine articles, and support of tours and other educational activities at the IATC annual conventions. The Foundation also supports special programs, such as the Annual Paxton Award for the author of a Torch Magazine outstanding article.
Winning Clubs of 2023 Convention Grants
To encourage local club participation in and assist clubs being represented at the 2023 International Association of Torch Club’s Convention in Baltimore June 22-25, the Torch Foundation this year offered a total of $1,500 in convention grant funds. The funds were divided into individual awards of $375 each to four local Torch clubs.
The Foundation is pleased to announce that the four Torch clubs receiving the 2023 Convention grants are:
St. Catharines ON, Canada
Westminster, MD
Blue Ridge/Leesburg, VA
Richmond, VA
The Foundation believes that attendance at the annual IATC convention presents unique educational activities in furtherance of IATC’s and the Foundation’s life-long learning mission; offers leadership development opportunities for Torch club members, especially officers; assists clubs with member recruitment/retention tools and fosters new club start-ups, and helps develop inter-club and member relationships across the Torch wide landscape. With those beliefs in mind, application reviewers gave special consideration to applicant clubs that had not been represented in any of the five preceding conventions and/or that planned to use the grants to assist an official delegate or officer in attending. Each grant covered the “early bird” registration fee for a club representative.
We hope every reader of this announcement is looking forward to attending the Baltimore Convention and, while there, will cement former friendships and form new ones.
