Grants
The Torch Foundation supports the Torch life-long learning mission through grants awarded to the International Association of Torch Clubs, Inc. (IATC). Recent grants have been for member recruitment and retention projects at existing clubs, new club development, subsidizing publication of Torch Magazine articles, and support of tours and other educational activities at the IATC annual conventions. The Foundation also supports special programs, such as the Annual Paxton Award for the author of a Torch Magazine outstanding article.
Centennial Club
Donations to the Foundation's Centennial Club, a restricted fund for member recruitment and forming new clubs, is vital for securing the future of Torch. Every contribution to this fund is dedicated to boosting membership in existing clubs and establishing new Torch clubs. These donations are already making an impact, evidenced by the Foundation's ability to fund the creation of the Membership Growth & Expansion Resource Guide & Tool Kit, designed to recruit new members, and the New Club Playbook, aimed at founding new clubs in cities worldwide. The Centennial Club will be available exclusively during the Torch Centennial period.
The Centennial Club Fund is a 5-year campaign, begun in 2023, has a $100,000 goal, raising $20,000 annually. You can get details and contribute on-line at the Torch.org link above.
2024 Convention Grants
Convention grants are awarded to clubs and members to encourage local participation and ensure representation at the annual Torch conventions.
These grants support the Foundation's mission of lifelong learning, leadership development, member recruitment and retention, new club startups, and fostering inter-club relationships. In the past, grants have been given to clubs not represented at the last five conventions to encourage them to send official delegates or officers. Some of these grants have covered the early bird registration fee for a club representative.
We hope every member is excited about attending conventions to renew old friendships and forge new ones, and to create new enthusiasm and ideas for Torch.

Applying For Other Types of Grants
The Foundation accepts grant applications from the IATC year-round. Trustees have no fixed number of requests to fill, and they could give available funds to one project, divide it among several projects, or award no grants during a year. Local Torch Clubs that have ideas for grant-worthy projects should contact their IATC Regional Director or an IATC Officer for assistance with the application submission. Grant applicants should keep dollar requests reasonable when planning a project for funding; also, note that on approved applications, post-grant reporting to the Foundation on use of funds may be requested. In compliance with IRS rules, administrative costs may not be funded.
An official Torch Foundation Grant Application should be filled out completely. Fill it out completely. The form may be augmented by supplementary material if the applicant desires. As above, email the application to Foundation President Pat Shutterly at [email protected]. And you may contact Pat at 804-360-3424 with questions.
