Angela P. Dodson is the editor of the anthology, “We Refuse to Be Silent: Women’s Voices on Justice for Black Men,” from Broadleaf Books, April 2024, and the author of “Remember the Ladies: Celebrating Those Who Fought for Freedom at the Ballot Box,” published by Center Street in 2017. She earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism at Marshall University and a master’s degree in journalism and public affairs from the American University. Angela is a former senior editor and former Style editor for the New York Times and a former executive editor of Black Issues Book Review. She is founder and CEO of EditorsOnCall LLC., which links clients to editors, writers, and graphic artists.
Angela is married to Michael I. Days, author of “Obama’s Legacy: What He Accomplished as President,” also published by Center Street, and retired vice president for diversity, equity and inclusion of the Philadelphia Media Network. |

Joel Stegall's academic journey began with a flourish as a choral director and chair of the Department of Music at Mars Hill University (NC). His career crescendo was his role as dean of music at both Ithaca College and the University of Florida. In 1990, Joel's leadership took center stage when he became Vice-President for Academic Affairs at Shenandoah University (VA) and joined the Torch club of Winchester. Upon retiring in 2002, he made a harmonious transition to Winston-Salem, NC, where he continued his Torch club involvement.
Joel's dynamic leadership was recognized with the prestigious Silver Torch Award from both the Winchester and Winston-Salem Torch clubs, where he served as vice-president and president. His intellectual contributions to the Torch community are noteworthy, with five of his six Torch papers published in The Torch Magazine. Joel's academic credentials are equally impressive, boasting a bachelor’s degree from Wake Forest University, a master’s from the University of North Texas, and a PhD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. |
